Uruguay vs Peru: La Celeste knocked out while playing good

Diego Godin rate Uruguay is already playing nice. However, the good play was not enough to save La Celeste in the Copa America 2019.

Uruguayan steps stalled in the quarterfinals. They lost 4-5 from Peru in the penalty shootouts in Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador, Sunday (30/6/2019) Nightfall WIB.

During 90 minutes, Uruguay briefly ripped off the Peruvian goal of Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Edinson Cavani, and Luis Suarez. The Video assistant referee (VAR) allowed the goal to smell offside. Luis Suarez's only unsuccessful execution.

Based on Whoscored data, Uruguay excels thinner in ball mastery with 51% versus 49%. From that amount of mastery, Uruguay was able to remove 12 shots with three leading to the goal. Peru only three shots without anyone leading to the target.

 "We failed to print goals. We keep on trying, but it also doesn't work. If we scored, then it would be a different match, "said Godin as quoted from Reuters.

 "We play good, but unfortunately we were eliminated. We could not score and they executed a penalty better than us, "the Uruguayan captain added.

Godin does not forget to thank supporters who already support his team. He is also proud of Uruguayan players.
